begrudgingly I hopped on the PR train Harry Potter style for the release of my last book "Gypsy". You know I was exhausted, tired, wrecked, worn out. I worked my socks off, got the book the attention it so deserved. And to the team at Blackpanther Press's credit, Gypsy entered the US charts at a staggering number 16 on the digital download charts. How absolutely incredible was that. For Christmas the kids got the playstations, passports and holidays. All was good in the hood. Of course I entered a semi induced coma for about four weeks afterwards.
"I know your Philly"
"I know I know TV3"
"I KNOW, YOUR GOING TO THE UK CHANNEL 5"
He sounded like my son at Christmas, excited out of his entire life, the UK Talafornia, Channel 5, repeating himself, over and over again.
"I know, Channel 5" - Hey maybe we'll hook up on Big Brother.
"I know, your on Big Brother, Channel 4"
Well god is good, maybe if I get the teeth fixed and the tummy seen too they might take me and Philly on CHANNEL 4 - THE UK. Its like when your son comes home with the gold star, or the playstation is sitting right there underneath the Christmas tree.
"The playstation 4, its right there"
"Where the hell mom"
"The UK" I said, "Santa went to the UK"
It seems we have both went on to brighter futures since our first encounter at Vanilla Nightclub. Talafornia and the ensuing Mafia are off to England and C5 with their massive TV Hit Series. While My next book has been taken up by an American Publishing House, radio tours of Washington and New York are right out there baby. So happy. Winter must have made Philly quite warm. You know I've warmed to him. But it seems sadly we have both been hosted to head separate ways. While Andrew Manning could be on the way to the Eurovision. I think I'm far too old with far too many kids for the likes of Philly but could a gorgeous girl on the fabulous runway catch him, hmm possibly.
Why were we all there. Of course the event was for a worthy cause to raise funds for the homeless in Haiti. A cause so close to my heart. While Philly was busy telling everyone that The Talafornia Mafia were headed to C5 and the UK. I decided to push Gypsy again, not to mention my latest coffee table book Fairy Tale of New York, not at all what it seems. Two hot girls, riding high in the twenties fall to the knees in the thirties, babies, stretch marks, not the bikini bodies of their younger years anymore. They hook up, pick themselves up and get on with their lives. Hot Couture TV were busy interviewing budding Irish Fashion Designers, Showbiz.ie was busy photographing all the celebs, the show was in full swing and some headed to Lillies Bordello. While I headed home to my cosy bed. Up early to study and get that book ready for the USA. Its not all glamour, but I sure liked my vintage 1960's dress.
